VietNamNet Bridge – Lam Dong Province is working to establish tourism within the community based on the local culture and sustainable development principles to relieve poverty in the region, according to the province's Department of Tourism and Commerce. The province will restore and develop traditional handicrafts in specific areas for national and international tourists to visit and study. Traditional handicrafts include the ethnic fabric weaving of the K'Ho people in Dang-gio-rit Village, the silversmithing and pottery making of the Chu Ru people in Pro' Village and the rattan and bamboo knitting of the Ma people in Cat Tien District. In the past, Lam Dong planned some tourist cultural events and handicraft villages featuring mulberry cultivation, silk production, horticulture and gong and drum performances in the districts of Duc Trong, Lam Ha, Lac Duong and Dalat. However, the events attracted little attention from tourists due to lack of proper organization. (Source: SGT) |
